Ghostbusters Afterlife is a comedy film that evokes nostalgia of the original series in the 80’s. The film has a very talented cast with big names like Paul Rudd, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson. The cinematography is well done. The way the ghost and ghouls look on the screen makes them feel real. The gadgets are very well used in the movie and the nostalgia really hits when Trevor starts to drive the old Cadillac known as Ecto-1. Seeing Phoebe’s grandfather help her to uncover the truth gives a very heartfelt moment that you wouldn’t expect to get from a comedy movie. However, one thing I found confusing is how the kids of the modern day in the film have no idea about the Ghostbusters and even go so far as to not believe in ghosts, saying they don’t exist. It’s hard to believe that this isn’t known, especially when there is video evidence of the Ghostbusters. It feels like they made the Ghostbusters fall apart just so they could have a sad moment when Phoebe speaks to an original ghost buster for the first time. The movie does make up for this forced sadness with a plethora of funny moments and references to the older movies.

All in all the I would rate the Film 4 out of 5.
