Bucks Fall to Danville in Girls’ High School Hoops

WELLS RIVER- On Tuesday, the Blue Mountain Bucks hosted a fierce contest against the Danville Bears, falling short 45-37. The BMU girls kept it close the entire game, but ultimately missed their mark due to Danville’s drop-dead free throw shooting. Danville Senior, Colleen Flinn went 8-8 from the line leading the Bears, as they ended the night 13-14 from the charity stripe, while the Bucks went 9-17. Danville led after the first quarter, coming out with 10 points to the Bucks’ 3. The Bears held the lead out of the second quarter, as each team scored 6 points, the score being 16-9. In the third quarter, the Bears widened the gap, doubling the score, pulling in 16 as the Bucks followed with 11. The Bucks tried to make a run in the fourth quarter, with Sophomore Jordan Alley reeling in 8 out of the team’s 19 4th quarter points to close the gap. The Bucks held the Bears to 11 points in the final frame but ultimately fell 8 points short.  The Bears improve to 7-5 on the season and next face BFA- Fairfax.  The Bucks fall to 8-3 and travel to Northfield for their next contest.
