WELLS RIVER – On Tuesday night Blue Mountain Boys played host to the Sharon Academy in a VPA division four playdown game, ultimately winning 77-29. Sharon’s Riley Eastman started the night off hot, nailing a three in transition within the first minute of the game. The Bucks were quick to answer back when John Dennis drove to the basket finishing with a left-handed layup. The score stayed relatively close until about six minutes into the game when the Bucks went on a solid offensive run. Much of the Bucks first quarter offense was the result of their outstanding defense.  BMU senior John Dennis appeared to be everywhere as he tipped, blocked, or downright stole numerous Phoenix passes leading to easy baskets for the Bucks and a 20 point lead after the first frame. The Phoenix were eventually able to find a rhythm, outscoring the Bucks 12-10 in the second quarter. Despite the Phoenix’s relentless effort, the Bucks were still on top at the half with a score of 35-17. In the third quarter of play, the Bucks seemed unstoppable, outscoring their opponents 27-4. The one-sided contest resulted in a 71-21 win for the Bucks. Blue Mountain will be hosting the Danville Bears in a quarter-final matchup on Saturday, March 5th at 7:00pm
