Coco Huang is a senior at Blue Mountain Union this year. She spent the first eight years of her life in China, before moving to Wells River in 2012. During her time at BMU, Coco has participated in cheerleading, softball, National Honor Society, student council, band, student government, hospitality club, and community service. She was named a captain of the cheerleading team, president of the National Honor Society, president of student council, Class of 2022 treasurer, senior class school board representative, and most recently the BMU Class of 2022 Valedictorian. Coco has also contributed to the community through work with 302Cares, coaching youth cheerleading, and completing a summer internship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. This fall, Coco will be attending Brown University. She plans to study public health with hopes to become “involved in work that improves the U.S. healthcare system in the future.” Coco Huang leaves behind a piece of advice for younger students here at Blue Mountain: “Remember to live in the present and don’t focus too much on the past and the future.” She would like to be remembered at BMU for being someone who is both considerate and dependable.

“Something that Mrs. Kane wrote in my college recommendation letter really encapsulates the impact that BMU has had on me as an individual and as a student: ‘Her experience at home has given her a bedrock of a strong work ethic and challenging goals; our small school has offered a safe, welcoming space for experimentation, participation and leadership in sports, the arts, and community building.’ I truly appreciate that the unique size and community at BMU have allowed me to venture into so many different academic and extracurricular paths.”
