On Wednesday, May 18th, Blue Mountain’s 7-12 musicians exhibited their talents, featuring performances from the chorus, concert band, ukulele players, and even BMU’s very own rock band.

The chorus performed “Stand By Me” by Ben E King, “Lost Boy” by Ruth B., and “Imagine” by John Lennon. The girl’s section had their own number, singing “Sweet Home Alabama” while a group of students played the background instrumental. The boys performed “Mama I’m Coming Home” by Ozzy Ozbourne while Matt Webster played the guitar. The performances included solos by Lilly Hand, Alyssa Crown, Sarah Frey, Lillian McLure, Lizzy Woods, and Alexandria DeForge.

The concert band performed “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes, “Feel It Still” by Portugal. The Man, “Good Time” by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen, and “Hey Jude” by The Beatles.

Sophomore Karli Blood and Senior Ethan Gilding sang a duet of “Breaking Free” from the “High School Musical” soundtrack. The two were later joined by Sophomores Matt Webster and Keegan Frigon to perform “Stranglehold” by Ted Nugent. The four teens are currently bandmates and go by the name “On The Fence.”

Karli stated, “This was my first time singing in front of a crowd since I played Jane in our school’s production of Mary Poppins. Going into the night I felt ready because of how much time was spent practicing the song, but I was nervous, of course. Now that I have ripped the band-aid off, I can’t wait to perform again.“

The night ended with the music instructor, Chelsea Picknell, handing out flowers to each of the seniors who participated in the showcase.
