The BNN Editorial Staff has been at a loss of what to say in response to the untimely death of Jared Cushing.  The death of anyone so young and full of promise is always devastating.  Jared’s passing hits us especially hard at BNN because of our personal relationship with him.  Three of our current staff members had the privilege of playing baseball for Jared this summer on his 18u Babe Ruth baseball team.  The three have shared many positive anecdotes including how incredibly proud Jared was to lead the team to the State Championship.  Many other members of our staff remember Jared as a student-athlete at Blue Mountain or as the leader of all things school spirit when dressed as “Buck-Man.”  All of us remember him as a person of character, determination, and unmitigated positivity. His absence leaves a tremendous hole in the BMU community.

There will be a Celebration of Jared’s life on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 1 PM at Blue Mountain Union School, 2420 Route 302, Wells River, VT 05081; interment will follow at Boltonville Cemetery, with light refreshments and a time of sharing to conclude back at the school.  Click here to read the full obituary.
