WELLS RIVER- On Monday, February 20th the Blue Mountain boys varsity basketball team hosted the BFA-Fairfax Bullets and fell just short on their senior night with a score of 59-57. The Bucks honored their four seniors before their last home game of the regular season. They were hoping to walk away with a victory on their special night, but BFA had other plans.

The Bullets came out firing on all cylinders when Evan Fletcher hit three 3s in the first two minutes, causing Blue Mountain head coach Chris Cook to call a quick timeout. The Bucks would battle back and put it within two at the end of the first quarter. It was a pretty even second quarter and the Bucks would enter the locker room at halftime trailing by three points. Fletcher stayed hot for the Bullets in the third quarter when he splashed two more threes. The Bullets would find themselves up by nine entering the last period, but the Bucks weren’t going to go down without a fight. The Bucks were down two with 2 seconds left on the clock when Evan Dennis threw up a prayer from just behind the three point line that would rattle out, sending the Bullets home with a 59-57 victory over the Bucks. Evan Fletcher led the bullets with 27 points while knocking down seven three pointers. Evan Dennis would lead the Bucks in scoring with 20 points with teammate Ricky Fennimore not far behind with 17 of his own.

BFA- Fairfax will improve to 6-10 and host Richford on Tuesday, February 21st. The Blue Mountain Bucks will travel to Twinfield on Thursday, February 23rd to play their last regular season game of the year.
