Bucks Derail the Engineers

WELLS RIVER – The Blue Mountain Bucks defeated the Woodsville Engineers 16-2 on Saturday, April 15th. In the heated cross-river rivalry, the Bucks sent senior Evan Dennis to the hill. Dennis would go four no-hit innings, allowing no runs, walking six and striking out nine. junior Owen Murray was sent to the bump in relief for the fifth inning. Murray would surrender two runs on four hits, no walks and striking out three.
For the Engineers, senior Jackson Horne would get the start. Horne went 1 and 1/3 innings, giving up six runs on two hits, four walks and two strike outs. The Engineers brought in Mike Hogan in relief, going 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on two hits, four walks and striking out five. Jacob Putnam pitched the final inning for the Engineers, surrendering six runs on two hits and two walks.
The Bucks kept their bats hot scoring 16 runs in just four innings of play. Dennis was a force on the offensive end, going 2-2 with two runs and three RBIs. Junior Cameron Roy helped the Bucks in a big way, going 1-2, scoring three runs and having one RBI. Kason Blood, Ricky Fennimore, and Brody Kingsbury all had one hit a piece. Sophomore Kris Fennimore thought very highly of the teams performance stating, “I think the team played really good and we’re starting to get in the flow of things”.
The Engineers were held hitless through four innings but found some life in the fifth. In a last ditch effort the engineers got the bats going, tallying two runs on four hits in the final inning of play. Jack Bodreault broke the no-hitter and got the engineers going in the fifth. Jayden Greene hit a double and had their only two RBIs of the game. Even after the slight surge it appeared to be too late as Murray would strike out the last batter to end the contest.
The Engineers drop to 1-1 and travel to Profile on April 17th. The Bucks improve to 2-0 and host Oxbow on Tuesday, April 18th.
