WELLS RIVER, VT- On Wednesday, January 3rd, the Blue Mountain Bucks defeated the Sharon Academy Phoenix 77-21 in a boys varsity contest. The Bucks put the game out of reach early and kept their foot on the gas pedal, outscoring the Phoenix 23-7 after the first quarter. The Bucks racked up 13 points in the 2nd frame leaving the score at 36-15 going into half time. The Bucks didn’t stop there as they added 23 points in the 3rd, followed by 11 in the 4th frame. Blue Mountain’s high scorer was Kason Blood with a season high of 32 points and shooting 5 for 6 from behind the arc. Kris Fennimore added 16 points followed by 9 from Jamal Saibou. According to Fennimore, “I think we played a great game, we came out strong and never looked back. We also tried a couple new things tonight, and it seems to work out. I can’t wait to keep working on them through the rest of the season.”
For the Phoenix it was Daniel Piasecki who lead the scoring column for the Phoenix with 7 points. The Phoenix fall to 0-7 on the season and will face off against Arlington Memorial on January 5th. Coach Chris Cook was very happy with his teams performance, he said, “Great team win. Loved our energy coming out of the locker room. A game where we set the tempo early and never let off. We’ll build off of this win and get ourselves ready for a tough January.” The Bucks are 3-3 on the season and will face Twinfield/Cabot on Friday, January 5th.
