WELLS RIVER, VT- On Friday, January 12th, the Blue Mountain Bucks defeated the Craftsbury Chargers 51-40 in a boys varsity matchup. The Bucks came out strong in the first quarter with 13 points but the Chargers kept the game in reach with seven. Blue Mountain furthered their lead in the second, shutting down Craftsbury lead scorer Dylan Washer, not allowing him any points. This gave the Bucks a 23-15 advantage at the half. In the 3rd frame, junior Kason Blood appeared to be demonstrating a full-court layup drill as he scored 12 points with ease, putting the Bucks up 39-28. Blue Mountain kept their lead at 11 with both teams putting up 12 in the final quarter. The Bucks’ leading scorer was Kason Blood with 22 points. He was followed by Cedric Schafer with seven and Jamal Saibou with six. According to Blood, “It definitely wasn’t the best basketball we have played, but we came together and won.”
For the Chargers, Dylan Washer led the scoring column with 15 points closely followed by Sterling Blodgett with 12. Craftsbury falls to 0-6 on the season and will next face Christ Covenant on January 15th. The Bucks improved to 4-5 and will play The Woodsville Engineers on Monday, January 15th.
