Wells River, VT – The Blue Mountain robotics class has been working on robots since the start of the second semester. After putting months of work into their robots, they are finally able to drive them around. The process of making the robot starts by building the frame and then working your way up, adding the mechanical aspects, like the motors and the control panel, then the structure for the claw. After the build of the robot is complete, they have to do the coding aspects such as the function of the arm and wheel motors. Now that they have completed their robots, they get to drive them around the classroom, battle each other, maneuver them around obstacles, and have some fun with the robots that they have worked hard on. Robotics student Jamal Saibou claims the hardest part of building the robot was coding, he explains that coding was the slowest part of the process because it seemed like it took longer than it should have. Although some of the parts may not have been the most fun, it was worth it in the end to be able to drive their creations. At the end of the school year, some of the students plan to add some modifications to their robots and use them to battle.
