Richford, Vt – On Saturday Morning, the 5-6 Richford Falcons hosted the 12-1 Blue Mountain Bucks. The Falcons put up a good fight but the Bucks ended up winning the game 8-7 in extra innings. Starting on the bump for the Falcons was junior Marcel Gendron; Gendron pitched 4.1 innings, allowing eight hits, seven walks, and struck out two. Richford then switched to senior Carter Blaney in the fifth inning. For the Bucks, junior Kris Fennimore started on the hill pitching three innings, allowing no hits, three walks, and struck out three. They then switched to Keegan Frigon in the fourth to pitch two innings followed by Cameron Roy came in to close in the sixth inning.
The Bucks started strong offensively putting up five runs in the first inning, and the Falcons later caught up putting up four runs in the third inning and then took the lead in the fourth inning putting up three more runs. The Bucks tied the game up in the fifth inning putting up two runs and the game stayed neck and neck requiring extra innings where the Bucks scored one run and held off the Falcons winning the game in the eighth inning. Blue Mountain catcher Kason Blood reflected on the game by saying, “We definitely didn’t have our A game today, but we came out and just found a way to sweep by with a win and ultimately it doesn’t matter how much you win by. We just came out here and battled, and getting the W’s the most important thing.”
