Northfield, VT- On Thursday, March 30th Paine Mountain played host to the Blue Mountain Bucks. The Bucks ultimately won the game 24-9 after a hard battle in the first few innings. BMU sophomore Kaylee Hamlett was in the circle, allowing four walks and nine runs throughout the game. In the first inning, the Bucks scored two runs while giving up no runs to Paine Mountain. The second inning saw the Bucks add three runs to the score courtesy of BMU freshman Ava Kingsbury hitting an in-the-park home run. In the top of the third inning Paine Mountain held the Bucks allowing no runs while in the bottom of the third inning, they scored five runs themselves making the score 5-5. In the fourth inning, the Bucks scored one run while Paine Mountain scored two making the score 6-8. In the fifth inning, the Bucks scored one run while allowing Paine Mountain one run making the score 7-9. In the sixth inning, the Bucks found their grove as they racked up 13 runs and held Paine Mountain to nine runs, the Bucks came on top with a score of 20-9 entering the seventh inning. The Bucks score four runs after BMU sophomore Kaylee Hamlett hits a home run to center field with bases loaded. The Bucks held Paine Mountain to nine runs making the final score 24-9.
BMU senior Felicity Sulham comments on the game, “Our last game of the season was a tough one in the beginning, but when we started hitting the ball we were unstoppable. We kept our heads up and never gave up. In the end, the outcome was in our favor. It has been a great regular season with the team, I can’t wait to see how far we go.”
The Bucks’s next game is a home quarter-final game June 7 at 4:30.
