On Saturday September 14th, in Wells River, VT, the Blue Mountain Bucks faced off against the Woodsville Engineers in a game that concluded with a 7-0 victory for Woodsville. The first half remained scoreless for much of the time, with both teams battling to keep the scoreboard at 0-0. However, late in the half, Woodsville broke through Blue Mountain’s defense, quickly scoring two goals in succession. Their momentum continued, adding two more goals before halftime, putting them up 4-0. In the second half, Blue Mountain’s defense improved, limiting Woodsville to three more goals. However, the game ended with a final score of 7-0 with Woodsville on top.
When asked about the game this weekend, BMU senior Madalyn Houghton shared, ”We had lots of moving parts: between some girls being injured and trying out a new defense, we struggled a lot in the first half. By the second, we still had injured players, but we figured out the defense more and fell into a groove. We played as a team and communicated better than we have in the past. We all have stuff to learn from this game, and we plan on using it as an opportunity to make us better!”
Blue Mountain is now 0-4 and goes on to play Danville on Wednesday, September 18th at Blue Mountain.
