WINOOSKI, VT—On Tuesday, October 15, the Bucks traveled to Winooski for their second-to-last game of the regular season, ultimately falling 0-6. The Spartans started scoring within the first five minutes. The Bucks came out flat, struggling to advance the ball as their defense worked to adjust to the Spartans’ offense. Despite their efforts to push forward, the Bucks were beaten as the Spartans netted their second goal of the night.
With the Spartans up 2-0, the Bucks adjusted their defense, managing to hold off the Spartans for a time and creating pressure on the opposing goal. However, the Spartans surged back, breaking through the Bucks’ defense to score their third goal. By halftime, the Spartans extended their lead to 5-0, consistently overpowering the Bucks.
“We played really well considering it was really cold, and we had a long [ 1 hr 45 min] bus ride. It took a minute to get off the bus, but we played great as a team. We all worked together until the very end, not giving up,” said senior Madisyn Christy.
At the start of the second half, both teams returned with renewed energy, ready to battle through the remainder of the game. The Bucks managed to hold the Spartans scoreless for 20 minutes before conceding a goal on a corner kick. In the last ten minutes, the Spartans overwhelmed the Bucks’ defense again, placing the ball in the back of the net and bringing the final score to 7-0.
The Bucks have one more game before the playoffs, scheduled for October 18, 2024. Before the game, they will honor the seniors. in addition, it is also a pink-out day to show support for all of those who have battled or are currently battling breast cancer.
