Blue Mountain softball opened the 2025 softball season with a decisive 5-0 win over the BFA Bullets on Monday, April 14th. Kaylee Hamlett was in the circle for Blue Mountain and delivered her usual reliable performance. The junior changed both location and pitch speed as she battled against BFA.
In the Bucks’ first at bat, Ava Kingsbury and Kaylee Hamlett got both singles, claiming 1st and 2nd. However, they did not advance and the inning ended with no score.
When the Bullets put the ball into play in the second inning, the Bucks’ defense was both smart and disciplined. With the Bullets Tatum Gaudette up to bat, a hard hit ground ball shot to short, and the Bucks executed a smooth 6-4-1 double play
Starting the 3rd inning, Tori Florentine hit a line drive to short. Then, Lily Roy slammed one to centerfield, bringing Florentine all the way home, making the score 1-0. On a past ball by the catcher, Roy stole home while Houghton advanced to 2nd, and then stole third. Shortly after, Maya Christy hit Houghton home with a single to shortstop, making the score 3-0.
Starting off the 5th inning, Florentine hit a double, driving Hamlett to third. The Bucks were on fire, and the scoring did not end there. Lily Roy slammed one out to center field, driving Hamlett and Florentine home, closing out the game with a 5-0 win.
Now at 1-0, the Bucks have a full week, traveling to Randolph to take on the Galloping Ghosts on Wednesday and facing the Craftbury Chargers at home on Friday.
