Derek VanNamee began at BMU in the preschool program. His hobbies include enjoying nature, hunting, fishing, riding dirtbikes and snowmobiles, and hanging out with his buddies. Derek has worked on farms and large vehicles his whole life. Since his junior year, VanNamee has participated in a cooperative education model, combining classwork with real-world learning in the workplace. He’d “like to be remembered as a hard worker,” and “the kid with the loud diesel truck.” VanNamee’s advice for younger students is “It takes a while, but it gets better and be grateful for it because it does fly.” Derek’s plans after school are to get his Class A CDL and attend college at Wyoming Tech for diesel technology. After school, he plans to reside in Vermont.
