WELLS RIVER, VT – On Tuesday, May 27th, the Blue Mountain Bucks traveled to Peoples Academy. In the three games the Bucks played with the PA Wolves this season, the Bucks came out on top, winning 17-2, 6-4, and most recently, 19-9.
The first innings were a back-and-forth battle, and senior Brody Kingsbury made sure the team knew how to carry themselves going into the game. “It’s hard to beat a team three times in a row, especially on the road. We just have to get off the bus and score runs early.” Senior Kason Blood led the game off with a walk, battling at the dish. In the two-spot, junior Jamal Saibou hit a double, scoring Blood. Saibou would be especially productive at the plate with a total of four hits on the night, two for extra bases.
Freshman Warren Snider started on the mound for the Bucks, tossing a total of 3 innings, giving up 7 hits, 8 runs(4 earned), 5 walks, and getting 2 Ks on his curveball. In the third, Brody Scott led the Bucks offense with his first career home run with a 3-run jack, the second Buck to do so this season, jump-starting the 5-run inning to put the game at 8 apiece.
Senior Kris Fennimore led off the fourth with a beautiful bunt single to start the Bucks’ offense, scoring 3 that inning. After Warren Snider, the Bucks threw sophomore Jacob Roberts in the fourth, who tossed a total of 2 innings, gave up 2 hits, earned a run, walked 2, and struck out 4 for the win. Kason Blood blasted one out of the park in the 5th inning to give the Bucks a commanding lead of 16-9. Blood also had a double and 5 RBIs in the game. Fennimore smashed a ball over the center fielder’s head in the fifth, getting to second and firing up the dugout.
The Bucks improve to 13-1 and will next face Paine Mountain on May 29th, celebrating Senior Night in their last regular-season home game.
