Sergeant Harrness visits Health class

Tanner Winchester

Recently, Sergeant Rachel Harrness from Grafton County Department of Corrections paid a visit to Mrs. French’s Health class. Sergeant Harrness spoke about the negative affects of drinking alcohol.  As part of her presentation, students used the Breathalyzer and experimented with the drunk
goggles.  According to Mrs. French, Sergeant Harrness “visits local schools and introduces concepts such as the dangers of driving while intoxicated, natural high, and other preventative lessons. Besides using the goggles which makes students feel like they are intoxicated (vision only), she also had students try using the breathalyzer.  Sergeant Harrness also came into the middle school classrooms to talk about having a passion for life that does not include drugs and alcohol.”
