WELLS RIVER, VT- On Saturday, January 6th, the Blue Mountain Bucks welcomed Northfield’s Marauders into the Dr. Harry M. Rowe Gymnasium. The Bucks would beat the Marauders 42-18. Blue Mountain kicked off the game, swiftly scoring 6-2 in the first quarter. The Bucks tallied up another 7 points in the second frame, leaving the score 13-6 entering halftime. The home team did not stop there; they sustained a rhythm and racked up another 15points, now making it 28-16, the Bucks dominating the Marauders. In the 4th quarter, the Blue Mountain team obtained 14 points, finishing the game strong and winning 42-18. Blue Mountain junior Maddy Houghton says, “This was the first [game] that we actually really worked as a team together, so that was my favorite part; we meshed well.” The Blue Mountain Bucks’ highest scorer is Jordan Ally, with ten points, followed by Karli Blood and Felicity Sulham, scoring 7 points each.
Blue Mountain junior Kaydence McKean said, “It was a Saturday game, so it was a little slow at first, but as a team, we came together, and in the second half, we came out with a lot more energy, and I thought we worked together nicely.” Northfield’s Kim Lamson led the team with nine points for the Marauders, half of their total points. Angie Tanner followed her with 3 points. The Blue Mountain girls are currently 3-2, and will face off against Danville on Tuesday, January 12th. Northfield’s next game will be against Williamstown on Thursday, January 11th.

Why don’t you guys live stream the JV games and why don’t you guys wright about the JV games

Thanks for the comment and question. We don’t live stream sub-varsity games simply because there is only so many hours we have to broadcast games. BNN is a student-run news organization and an extension of the Electronic Journalism class at BMU. Students are volunteering any time that is outside of classroom hours like basketball games are. As far as writing about sub-varsity games, we follow the same guidelines as other news outlets do. The local papers don’t write about sub-varsity games and neither do we. Again, there is only so much time to cover sports in our area. BNN is dedicated to providing news coverage for the greater BMU community but we can’t cover it all.
