Panthers Take Down The Bucks

BMU 0- Thetford 2

WELLS RIVER- On Monday night the Bucks hosted the 2-4 Thetford Academy Panthers in girls varsity soccer. Ultimately the Panthers would come out on top knocking off the Bucks winning by a score of 2-0. With the Bucks looking for their first win, they came out on the attack putting two shots on goal just seconds into the first half. Going into half time it was a stalemate with both sides goalies having a great game resembling a wall in front of the net. Until Panthers freshman, Lizzie Brown punched a hole through the defensive line scoring only 10 minutes into the second half of the game.

The Panthers’ second goal came by way of an unlucky bounce off of a blue and gold defender that would trickle through into the net. With the Panthers coming off of an 8-0 loss to Lake Region; Head Coach Patrick Perry had this to say about his teams’ performance ” We are a very young team. It’s a rebuilding year for us, I think the biggest concern from me coming into this was [that] we just had a really tough game with Lake Region…..and for a young team I was concerned about how the girls were going to respond.” As the Panthers improve to 3-4 they will face off against Harwood Union on September 27th at 4:30 at Thetford Academy. As the Bucks drop to 0-5 they look to get their first win against the Richford Falcons on September 27th at 4:30 at Richford.
