On Thursday, April 30, the Blue Mountain Bucks hosted Woodsville in a boys varsity baseball game, ultimately defeating the visiting Engineers 14-0. After a scoreless first, the Bucks put up seven runs in the second inning and another seven in the fourth, putting the game away relatively early.
Blue Mountain sent sophomore Warren Snider to the hill, where he fired a complete-game shutout, giving up only two hits, striking out five, and walking just three. According to Snider, “It was a good team win, we played an error-free game, that’s always nice to see as a pitcher.” The game was called in the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.
The Engineers’ Dylan Marshall took the loss, going 3 ⅓, allowing 11 runs, four earned runs, striking out two, and walking four on the day.
Offensively, the Bucks were led by Jacob Roberts and Brody Scott. Roberts drove in three runs and went 2 for 3 at the plate. Scott collected a pair of hits on the day. Overall, Blue Mountain was patient at the plate, walking nine times as a team.
Woodsville’s offense was led by Dylan Marshall and Linclon Williams, who both had one hit apiece.
The Bucks improve to 4-0 and next face Paine Mountain on May 5th. The Engineers fall to 1-7 on the year and face Lisbon on May 6.
