ORFORD, NH-  On Tuesday, December 12th, the Bucks traveled down the interstate to face the Rivendell Raptors for their season opener. The Bucks would come out on top, beating the Raptors 32-20.  The Bucks opened up the game, scoring quickly off of the tip, and would be led by freshman Addison Murray, who put up 10 points in her high school debut. Murray commented, “I was very happy to have scored my first points as a varsity player. It was hard to hide my emotions.” The Bucks would extend their lead to three points by the end of the first quarter. Both teams locked down their side of the court in the second frame, with the Bucks only allowing 2 points and the Raptors allowing 7 points.  The Raptors, led by Lindsay O’Hearn, clawed their way within 7 points just before the half.

Coming out of the half, both teams remained in their tight defenses, but the Bucks managed to extend their lead once again, ending the 3rd frame winning 29-15. The Raptors managed to contain the Bucks, only allowing three points in the 4th quarter, but still fell short at the last buzzer. BMU Head Coach Scott Farquharson had this to say, “We are happy to get the first win under our belt.” As the Bucks improve to 1-0, they will face the Sharon Academy Phoenix for their home opener in the Dr. Harry M Rowe Gymnasium on Thursday, December 14th. As the Raptors fall to 0-1, they will play the Oxbow Olympians on December 14th at Oxbow.
