On December 10, the Blue Mountain Union Hospitality team hosted their annual brunch for teachers. The Hospitality group gathers every year during the month of December to give teachers appreciation for their hard work. Donna Ashford the Hospitality Advisor was asked how does the event benefit the kids? She then replied with “It teaches them responsibility and accountability, we send a letter home telling them when we are doing the brunch, what they need to make, and when they need to be done and at the school from then on it’s up to them to get it done.” Ashford has been running the hospitality program for 18 years, and she runs the program well setting up for many events throughout the year.
Kimberly French a very grateful teacher stated “The fact that Donna works so hard with so many students to pull this together just as a genuine kindness for others, and I love that the staff/students that help get to enjoy the leftovers.” French has shown how grateful she is for this program. French also added “I think they are an amazing group of students that do these nice things for the kindness of others.” The hospitality program is not just about catering food for others it’s about the kindness you show to others, it ´ s about the thought. Donna first took over Hospitality in 2007 where she made it the great thing it is today. BMU teachers and students are very grateful for Ashford whether she is in the classroom subbing or she is in the apps room giving treats and snacks out to teachers.
