Bucks Defeat Marauders in Boys Varsity Basketball

WELLS RIVER- Last Friday, the Blue Mountain Bucks bested the Northfield Marauders 51-30 in boys’ varsity hoops. Both teams had a slow start with Blue Mountain edging out the Marauders in the first quarter 9-6. The second quarter was more of the same, with both teams only scoring 7 points apiece, giving the Bucks a 16-13 advantage at the half. In the second half, the Bucks were able to get things going with 35 combined points in the third and fourth quarter, while the Marauders had 17 combined points. The Marauders’ leading scorers were Carson Smit and Caiden Crawford-Stempel with 10 apiece. The Bucks’ leading scorers were Evan Dennis with 19 points, John Dennis, and Ricky Fennimore with 9 points, and Ethan Gilding with 8 points. The Bucks improved to 11-3 on the season and will travel to Winooski on Wednesday, February 16th. The Marauders fall to 10-4 and will host BFA Fairfax on Monday, February 14th.
