On Tuesday evening, senior baseball and softball players were honored during Blue Mountain’s annual Senior Night celebration. The list of athletes included: Kenzie Carle, Aleah Nelson, Coco Huang, Emma Gray, Maggie Emerson, Natalie Daigle, John Dennis, Cameron Dennis, Ryan Edson, Ethan Gilding, Tanner Winchester, and Cooper Ingerson.

The Blue Mountain Bucks Baseball team defeated Peoples Academy on Tuesday night in an 8-5 battle. Ricky Fennimore was clutch at the plate with runners on base, driving in over half of the runs on three hits.

Blue Mountain Bucks Varsity got things moving in the first inning, when Cameron Roy doubled on a 3-0 count, scoring one run.

Blue Mountain put up three runs in the fifth inning. Their offense came from a single by junior Ricky Fennimore and a double suicide squeeze laid down by senior Ethan Gilding.

Peoples Academy scored three runs in the seventh inning, but the Bucks still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning came from a single by Alex Lanpher, a grounder by Ben Alekson, and a double by Augie Leven.

Junior Evan Dennis earned the win for Blue Mountain Bucks Varsity. The hurler went six innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out eight. Sophomore Hayden Carle came out of the bullpen to throw one inning in relief.

Chandler Follensbee took the loss for Peoples. The junior surrendered six runs on five hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four.

Blue Mountain had seven hits in the game. Fennimore and John Dennis collected multiple hits for the Bucks with Fennimore going 3-for-4 at the plate.

Peoples Academy racked up seven hits in the game. Leven, Allen, and Dylan Sautter all managed to get multiple hits for Peoples Academy.

The 13-0 Bucks will travel to Williamstown to face the 5-7 Blue Devils, for the second time, to end the regular season.

 

As for softball, the Bucks earned a 12-1 victory over Peoples Academy.

Blue Mountain notched seven runs in the third inning. The rally was started by Felicity Sulham and Jordan Alley, who both reached on base. A sac fly by Kenzie Carle brought in a run. Karli Blood, Jade Lamarre, and Kyra Nelson each contributed one RBI apiece in the inning.

Maggie Emerson earned the victory for the Bucks. Emerson lasted four innings, allowing two hits and one run, while striking out seven and walking none. Nelson threw three innings in relief without giving up a single run.

Tiffany Parker started in the circle for Peoples Academy. The pitcher went six innings, allowing 12 runs on nine hits and striking out six.

The Bucks had nine hits in the game. Lauren Joy and Nelson each racked up multiple hits for Blue Mountain Varsity Bucks. Joy also led with two stolen bases.

The Bucks earned their 12th win of the season and will host the Craftsbury Chargers Friday evening to end the regular season.
