Bucks Fall to Rockets in Quarterfinal Contest

WELLS RIVER- On Saturday, June 4th, the #3 Blue Mountain Bucks faced off against #6 Richford Rockets for a Division 4 quarterfinal softball game. The Rockets came out on top with a final score of 7-3.

Kyrielle Deuso led the Rockets as she started in the circle. The ace lasted three innings, allowing two hits and three runs while striking out five batters.

For the Bucks, it was Senior Maggie Emerson who started on the rubber. The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on five hits and striking out four. Freshman Kyra Nelson came out of the bullpen to throw four and a third innings in relief. The young arm allowed four hits while striking out six.

In the bottom of the third, the Bucks scored on a Karli Blood single and a Jordan Alley walk. The Bucks tallied three runs with no RBIs, scoring on past balls and wild pitches. Karli Blood, Kyra Nelson, Gabrielle Houghton, and Mackenzie Carle each collected one hit to lead the Bucks. Lauren Joy led with two stolen bases, as they managed to gather five as a team.

Richford had nine hits in the game. Mikayla Chagnon and Kyrielle Deuso earned multiple hits for Richford, with one of Deuso’s at-bats resulting in a two-run shot to deep left field. Ella Chagnon, Maddie Smith, Holly Raymond, Maddie Johnson, and Melody Tracy all contributed with one hit a piece.

The Richford Rockets will be traveling to Danville on Tuesday, June 7th to face the Bears in a Semi-Final Contest starting at 4:30.
