Bucks Win The Fall Ball Championship

WELLS RIVER- On Sunday, October 16th the Blue Mountain 18u fall ball team remained undefeated and captured the championship over St. Johnsbury 6-3. Blue Mountain sent Evan Dennis to the hill, who went four innings, allowing no hits, no runs, and one walk while fanning eight. Then the Bucks sent southpaw Ricky Fennimore to the mound; he went three innings, allowing two hits, one run, and striking out five. Cam Roy finished out the game, throwing the final two innings, allowing two runs, no hits, four walks and one K.

St. J. sent Tyler Holm out to the bump, going three innings, allowing no hits, one run, three walks, and six strikeouts. The Hilltoppers then brought in Logan Burgess in relief. He went two innings, giving up no runs, no hits, walking two, and fanning two. Jason Mitchell was brought in to pitch one inning, issuing three hits, five runs, and two walks. St. J went to the bullpen one last time, bringing in right-hander Rex Hauser. He went two shutout innings, allowing no hits, no runs, no walks while striking out two.

The Bucks scored six runs off of three hits. They struck first, scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning, when Cam Roy was walked and stole second and third, then scored on a passed ball. The bats stayed quiet until the fifth inning when the bucks erupted with a five-run inning. Fennimore and Kingsbury led the offense, each having a hit and an RBI.

The Hilltoppers were led by Holm and Hauser; they both had one hit and each crossed the plate once. St J was held scoreless until the fourth inning when they scored one run. They later scratched two runs across in the 9th inning. This brings Blue Mountain’s successful Fall Ball season to an end, with a record of 6-0.
