Bucks Defeat Phoenix in Home Opener

WELLS RIVER- Last night in Boys Varsity Basketball, the Blue Mountain Bucks overcame Sharon Academy Phoenix 76-19. The Bucks came out hot scoring 18 points in the first quarter while holding the Phoenix to just 2 points. The Blue Mountain defense looked strong only allowing 6 points in the second quarter while putting up 21 points; ending the first half making the score 39-8. Sharon was led by Caleb Benjamin who put up 13 points, while Jack Lloyd had 4 points. In the second half, BMU continued their scoring tallying up 22 more points while Sharon put up 8 making the score 61-16 going into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, things were wrapped up with the Bucks scoring 15 additional points and holding the Phoenix to 3 points making the final score 76-19. The Bucks had multiple players who scored double digit points. Evan Dennis put up a game high 24 points, Kason Blood finished the game with 14 points, Ricky Fennimore had 13 points and Jamal Saibou scored 10. The Bucks move to 1-0 to start the season and will host the Thetford Panthers on Friday, December 16th. The Phoenix fall to 0-1 and will play Craftsbury at home on Monday, December 19th.
