Quechee-  On Friday, the Blue Mountain boys varsity team traveled to Mid Vermont Christian and bested the Eagles 51-44. The Bucks got off to a slow start allowing the Eagles to outscore them 15-9 in the first quarter. In the second quarter, both teams scored seven points allowing the Eagles to hold on to their six-point advantage. In the third frame, Blue Mountain beat out Mid Vermont 18-8 giving them a lead of 36-32. After that third-quarter run, the Bucks never trailed for the remainder of the contest.

Blue Mountain’s seniors Evan Dennis and Ricky Fennimore both had solid efforts with 17 points apiece. Mid Vermont’s Abel Goodwin was the top scorer for his squad with 15 points on the night.

Dennis stated, “I am very proud of our whole team for battling back from being down at halftime. We showed some grit and I think things are really starting to click as a team. “

After the Bucks win, their record improved to 9-2 giving them the number two position in the VPA standings. The Eagles’ record falls to 13-3; placing them in the 4th position in the standings.  Blue Mountain sees cross-river rival Woodsville on February 13th and Mid Vermont faces Grace Christian on the same night.
