WELLS RIVER- On Tuesday, June 6th the Blue Mountain Bucks defeated the Stratton Mountain Bears 10-0 to move on to the state championship. The Bucks sent senior ace Evan Dennis to the bump. Dennis would go on to throw a 5 inning shut out, allowing no runs on 2 hits while walking 3 and fanning 9. While the Bears sent David Shycon to the mound, Shycon would go 3 1/3 innings allowing 7 runs on 7 hits, walking 3 and striking out 1. In relief, Stratton Mountain went to Wyatt Teaford who would go 1 inning surrendering 3 runs on 3 hits, walking 1 and striking out 3.

On the offensive side the Bucks were hot with 10 total team hits. Kason Blood and Ricky Fennimore led the way for the Bucks, both finishing with 2 hits and 3 RBIs; one of Fennimore’s hits being a solo shot to right center in the 3rd inning. Brody Kingsbury also contributed going 2-3 with a single and a double. For Stratton Mountain Wyatt Teaford and Micha Bruner both had 1 hit apiece, those being the Bears’ only two hits. This loss will eliminate Stratton Mountain from the playoffs; the Blue Mountain Bucks will move on to the championship where they will face the 6th seeded Arlington Eagles at Centennial Field on Saturday, June 10th.
