Local farmer Jacob Emerson’s John Deere 4020 is stuck while trying to hay. The wet summer has made it difficult for Emerson to work the fields.

New England beef, hay, and dairy farmers have been struggling with making good quality hay/feed. Due to the weather this spring and summer. The first cutting of hay wasn’t great because of drought-like conditions. This meant that the quality, and growth weren’t good and the tonnage wasn’t a lot. The second cut had very good growth and tonnage but the quality was questionable if it had been rained on. It was very hard to get a second cut off the fields because of the amount of rain, which made it hard to get on the fields due to mud. Local hay and beef farmer Jacob Emerson says “Big time struggle this year.” Hopefully, there will be a better hay season for the farmers next year.
