BMU offers a new club for 7th through 9th grade students. The new Game Club’s advisor is Melanie Ilsley-Hening, BMU middle school math teacher. Last year Ilsley-Hening asked her 8th grade students about a gaming club because of her love of board games. She often even uses board games while teaching. The current 9th grade students receive permission from Principal Knisley for this new club. The Gaming Club meets every Monday after school and currently has 10 members. The first Game Club gathered on October 2, 2023. Ilsley-Hening recruits her son, Emmett Ilsley-Greene, to help out. Ilsley-Greene runs the Dungeons and Dragons game on one side of the room, while Ilsley-Hening runs various board games on the other side. Ilsley-Hening states “The goal of the club is to have fun and learn new and different games”. The game club is open to new members and students may bring in any board games to play.
