BMU welcomes new student services staff Bert “Chip” Dolan. Although Dolan has thought about being in student services for years, it was only recently that he made a career change. Dolan was hired just the day before school started, so he has only been in student services since August, so he is still learning our systems. Prior to this, he worked with transition age youth. Dolan thought he was really good with this, so he decided to shift into a school setting. His favorite part is getting to know the students and figuring out ways to motivate them. Dolan appreciates that “everyone here lives in my community,” which is important since Dolan wants to have an impact within his community. Outside of work, Dolan is a quiet person who enjoys doing outdoor activities like hiking, fishing and canoeing. He has one dog, Harley, which is a rescue from Virginia Beach. He is available to assist any high school students that needs help.
