In Wells River, the Blue Mountain varsity girls played host to the Enosburg Falls Hornets, ultimately losing 5-3.  The Buck’s Kyra Nelson scored early in the first half, but less than a minute later, the Hornet’s freshman Gretchen Stiebris responded with a goal of her own. Enosburg junior, Gabby Spaulding tallied two goals back to back late in the first half.  The Bucks were able to score one last goal before the double whistle, coming off the foot of sophomore, Jordan Alley. In the second half, the Hornets struck first with a goal notched by senior defender, Dana Elkins.  The Bucks’ senior Kolby Nelson was able to answer with a goal of her own, bringing the home team within one. The injury plagued Bucks had few substitutes and this began to have an effect late in the game.  According to Nelson, “We did well. We ran after the ball even though we were tired. Without any subs we worked hard.” Enosburg finished the scoring of the day with a goal from senior mid Emily Adams. The Buck’s sophomore keeper Felicity Sulham had a solid effort in the goal with 19 saves. With the 5-3 loss the Bucks fall to 3-3 on the season and next face Twinfield on September 29th.
