On Saturday, October 21st, Blue Mountain Union’s Cross Country team was at the NVAC Mountain Division Cross Country Championships. Saturday had some of the worst weather Blue Mountain had seen at a race this year.  This event featured a middle school race of 2.7k (1.6 miles) and a high school race of 5k (3.1 miles).  The middle school girls competed with BMU’s Madison Frigon, posting a time of 15:11; good enough for 61st place and a new personal record. Next up, the varsity girls raced with the Bucks’ Lily-Ann Morgan, Nyx Desrochers, and Alexandria DeForge racing. Morgan placed 77th with a time of 36:20, Desrochers placed 73rd with a time of 33:22, and DeForge ranked 63rd with a time of 29:43 hitting her personal record. The final race of the day was the boys varsity race, with Zhijie Zhong competing with a time of 28:00 in 79th place. Blue Mountain cross country team’s last and final race will be on Saturday, October 28th at Thetford Academy.

About the Contributor
Nyx Desrochers, BNN Staff
Nyx is a junior in high school, and this is her first year at BNN. She runs with the varsity cross country, but that clearly wasn’t nearly enough for her as she writes songs and sings music. She has barely been playing chess for a year and already she has won two tournaments. The past week before school, Nyx volunteered at a camp for girls who lost a parent, trying to help those in need. Nyx is also studying to become a cosmetologist at River Bend, but the best thing about her is she loves spending time learning new things.
